the polarity of Action.

It is wise to plan each day. By setting goals, organizing activities, and accomplishing what has been set in front of you, the day will be full and never wasted.

In Tao, patterns are used when planning. The observable way of Nature, perceived through the invisible lines of Destiny, influence our path in life. The sage imagines a pattern for their entire life, and in this way, ensure overall success. Every day, they find a way to match their progress against the universal pattern, and by doing so, navigate the treacherous trail with sureness and grace. It is precisely because of their ability to discern AND manipulate patterns, unknown to ordinary people, that makes the Taoist so formidable.

When unpredictability rears its head, those who follow Tao are not perturbed, armed as they are with improvisation. If circumstances deny one particular path, then they change course immediately and without concern. Avoiding confusion, they discern the method by which the pattern has morphed, developing new moves based on how the chess board moved. The spontaneous creation, or realization, of new patterns, is the ultimate art.
