Poetry Flashback - '08

Give up
on futile fretting
dwelling on spilled milk
embracing negativity and the ilk
forgetful of the pristine stage
events that anger and engage
wicked swindles
led by free will
onwards!
To future, what future?
will bring

Do not fear what's yet to come
a fate to which we all succumb.
Tell-tale signs that something's broken,
in control, but feels like choking
under the pressure to succeed
no cost too great, for those willing to bleed.
Fearless, mistaken
sense of self-preservation
challenging death without reservation.
Few follow a path quite so fearful
reunions always end up tearful
this life is worn, and gettin thin,
not quite a vice
but definite sin.

Oasis
where?
still unseen
since the dawn of Man
those who seek the truth
are left with a mirage.

***

Undertow
caught in the current
events transpire
due to the puppeteer
behind the scenes.
Who is truly in command
the people, or the powerful?
Provided for, but left without
in need of assistance
but without the clout.
A new way needs to be found
to start looking in
and finding a way
where both sides can win-
small sacrifices
given up willingly
falsified only
if intention's afoul
generosity
in time
will be repaid.

A method sought to make sense of existence
is useless when applied to life itself;
the geometric model does not match reality.
Structurally unsound,
but used in lieu
of life experience
and a mind renewed.
Compassion clouded, the whole imbalanced,
the face of tomorrow
obscured today.
