Center - 中心 - Zhōngxīn

The tallest tree
was once a tiny seed,
a budding promise
of what could be-
One life fades away,
while another prepares to blossom,
the mystery of the universe
originates from the center.

~inspired by Deng Ming-Dao
True beauty must come from within. A flower is a perfect example. In the beginning, it is only a bud. It does not reveal its loveliness to the world. There are no birds or bees hovering nearby, as it has yet to bear fruit. When it opens, its beauty is exposed, unleashing the fragrant aroma and glorious kaleidoscopic colors. The nectar of life is guarded, until the proper circumstances have been met.

Our glory has little to do with our appearance or occupation. Our truly special qualities come from within. We must take care to open and bloom naturally, not spreading ourselves needlessly and without thought. Our path in love, like in life, should be leisurely and keep to the center. It is from there that all mystery and power originate, and it is best to let life unfold on its own time.

Just as a flower passes through stages - bud, opening, blossoming, pollination, withering, fruit, and fall - each of us will pass from childhood, through adolescence, into adulthood, old age, and death. We are not a single character all of our lives. Every choice we make defines our growth and changing persona. Our identity unfolds, blooms, and eventually decays...unless we attain the center of being, keep our progression controlled, and achieve true independence in our lives.
