to one place
~inspired by Deng Ming-Dao
Look around the universe, and see how life revolves. You cannot go back; there is no way to rewind. Do not arbitrarily mark time at any one position, it will not stay there. Life continues on, ignorant of your concerns, and you will fall hopelessly out of step. That is why life must be engaged; you must maintain a pace.
Do not look back. Do not take backward steps. Each time you come to a decision, move forward. Look at life as territory crossed; each step must capitalize upon the previous. Never relinquish your position, unless you can be sure of better footing ahead. How can one develop timing in this process?
Look to intuition. Realize your limits, and stop and comtemplate when they are reached. On certain days, our tolerance is low. When this happens, change course for a moment. Without the burden of guilt, you are not weighed down, and thus should be able to act swiftly. The point of life becomes apparent, and the next phase begins at once. Life is renewed. We should not mark our progress in life by the distance we have covered; instead, we should look at what we have built along the way.
