What is worship? Some people see worship as merely as a matter of paying respect to a higher being. These people misunderstand the purpose. Worship should be a matter of achieving godlike qualities in yourself. This can be achieved through nine areas of self-cultivation.

Your diet should be moderate, healthy, and composed of living food. If you wish for your body to be sustained, eat those things that once sustained life.

Learn to use healing herbs to mitigate disease and maintain well-being.

Be moderate in your clothes; wear natural fibers if possible. What you wear expresses the state of your mind.

Learn what it means to speak, to pray, to sing, to chant, and finally, to fall silent. When you have practiced these to proficiency, what you say will become reality.

Stretch your body each morning. Move your body each day. Exercise in various ways. The universe never ceases to move, neither does the energy surging within your body.

Meditate in the morning. Also in the evening. Attain tranquility and triumph over dilemmas through daily contemplation and reflection.

Be creative. The soul which contributes elevates itself.

Acquire a good education. Knowledge is a treasure, preserved in the self for transmission to a wider audience. Do not make the mistake of being selfish about what you know.

Above all other fields rests the ultimate precept - compassion. Compassion is a pillar upon one can combat the greatest of evils. Spirit is forged through the crucible of conflict when one takes the side of compassion.

People often ask, "What is the proper way to worship?"

"Remember the nine fields, and you will be certain to cultivate holiness."
