Immediacy - 直接 - Zhíjiē

When you wash your face, can you see your true self behind the mirror?
When you expel waste, do you sense true purity or putrid residue?
When you eat, can you understand the path of your food?
When you walk, can you feel the heavens move?
When you work, do you feel content, or constant disdain?
When you speak, do you beguile others?
When you shop, are you feeding your wants or satisfying your needs?
When you meet with the suffering,
do you help?

When death confronts you, do you shrink away or stay calm?
When conflict arises, do you work towards harmony, or away?
When surrounded by family, do you express benevolence or demand obedience?
When raising children, do you possess both soft touch and firm resolve?
When faced with problems, do you possess foresight and tenacity?
When work is finished, do you take time to rest or take stress home?
When you prepare for bed, do you settle your mind or seek a stupor?
When you sleep, can you turn off the white noise?
Do you need help
to slip into the void?
