Delayed Daily Musing - May 6th, 2013 - Be -是 - Shì

Be -是 - Shì

Within - Tao.
Surroundings - Tao.
All parts, sensations - Tao.
We call what can be seen
and what cannot

With Tao, there is harmony.
Separation results in disaster.
Observe the current.
Follow your instincts.
Find solace in silence.
Turn your gaze within,
be still -  know - Tao.

Tao exists all around us, within us. We are Tao. The Earth is Tao. The Sky is Tao as well. It is outside and inside, the known and the unknown. All that we can understand about the universe cannot give us a full appreciation of Tao. These things we know are merely the outward manifestations of Tao.

The ultimate Tao is that which is called absolute. We cannot know it directly or through any definition, reference, or given name. Our mind is incapable of perceiving the contrast between the outward manifestation and the absolute. Yet, this colorless infinity underlies the reality of this world and our lives created in it. The only way to remove this sense of division is to alter our mode of thinking. We must plunge into the mysterious void if we wish to learn the most important lessons. Only then can we find pace.
